Dr. Fetter completed a surgery internship at Emory University Affiliated Hospitals, followed by an Orthopedic Surgery residency at Albany Medical Center, Albany, New York. Dr. Fetter completed a Total Joint Replacement Fellowship at Harvard University, Boston, Massachusetts in 1978. He served as President of the Lake County, Illinois Medical Society in 1997, and is currently on the medical staff of multiple hospitals.

Dr. Fetter was an orthopedic consultant to the State of Illinois Office of Inspector General Bureau of Medical Quality Assurance, and currently consults to the City of Chicago, and the United States Department of Justice, regarding Orthopedic Causation cases.
